Discussing the Challenges and Perspectives of our Youth Today
2011 Youth Summit: I Am vs. We Are
This years Youth Summit, “I Am vs. We Are”, will be held on July 7-8 at Bob Jones University.
The Youth Summit is an opportunity given to the youth of Greenville to have open and honest discussions concerning their challenges and their perspectives of those challenges. The Youth Summit is the only summit in the upstate that seeks a cross-cultural selection of youth. Youth between the ages of 15-21 are able to spend two days together sharing their unique cultural/personal perspectives on youth issues/obstacles, or challenges.
Why should youth ages 15-19 attend the 4th Annual Greenville Youth Summit?
Youth will collectively identify issues and concerns facing them within our community
Youth will use cross-cultural (race, class, ethnicities) perspectives in viewing issues and concerns
Youth will engage in conversations and in-depth dialogues to clearly identify obstacles and challenges, and develop resolutions to address these obstacles and challenges.
The Summit format is designed so that all participants and their perspectives are respected and honored.
Youth and young adults (college students who have attended previous summits) are facilitators
Youth participating in this year’s summit will receive an Official Diversity Training Certification if they complete the two-day event. Former juniors and seniors who have attended the summit in the past listed the summit on their college application.
Youth must attend both days to be eligible for giveaways and other prizes.
