Giving back to the Community through Service & Mentoring
Each member of GYCCLC will participate in the We Teach program. The program is design to teach the members to give back to the community through service by teaching and mentoring seventh and eighth graders. Each member will have the opportunity to work with children on three levels. Level l – teach children racial awareness and acceptance and racial differences and commonalities in cultural. Level 2 – teach children at this age certain character building for success in high school. Level 3 – create relationships based on character rather than color or privilege.
We Teach Goals and Objectives
To ensure that GYCCLC members understand how social and economics, poverty and racism have on children.
To teach 200 kids each year.
To start building bridges of racial reconciliation and bridges of commonalities among children in this age group
Participants will become mentors of this age group in the area of developing cross-cultural relationship thus creating future cross cultural practitioners.
To place the WE TEACH program in multiple middle schools, so that GYCCLC members will receive credit hours as part of their social study or civic curricular.
